Pursuant to State Statute, a joint Zoning Board of Appeals and Plan Commission is created to review matters dealing with the Village of Lyons Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance. The combined Board shall have all powers and authority as specified in the Illinois Revised State Statutes as designated to the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.

The Plan Commission shall prepare from time to time and submit to the Village Board for approval or rejection changes in the Village Plan as may be deemed advisable or necessary by the Commission.

The Zoning Board of Appeals is charged with interpreting the Zoning Ordinance, hearing appeals from decisions of the Zoning Administrator, and conducting public hearings as required under State Statute and thereafter making recommendations to the Village Board for approval or rejection, petitions for variations from the strict enforcement of the Zoning Code.
